Lexington Ave Church of God is a life transforming Bible centered Church in the Bedford Stuyvesant Community of Brooklyn, NY. Our heart beat is our small group ministries. We believe that together in fellowship we grow closer together God and to one another.

 

The Bible speaks about iron sharpening iron (Proverbs 27:17) and we believe that as we worship and fellowship together, we build a stronger foundation in the faith of Jesus Christ.

Lexington Avenue Church of God works hard at being a church where everyone from every walk of life can come to learn about Jesus, that’s why we go to the highway and the byways to seek the lost and dying, the broken hearted, the helpless, those in all areas of bondages, to show God's people a better way.

Our core values are our the relationship with God and with one another. We grow through fellowship, learning together, helping each other.

The leadership of the Holy Spirit is our highest priority, this enables us to advance the Kingdom and finish the course as Jesus Christ commanded in Matthew 28:18-19

We believe as we draw closer to God, He comes closer to us. As we draw closer to each other, God moves in powerful ways to bring us into a better understanding of his word that leads to the transformation of our Hearts.
Here we learn a better way to live in peace and harmony with each other.


Under the leading of God's Holy Spirit, we seek the lost, the broken families, the sick, the non believers, the fatherlesss, and estranged children, and restore broken homes in our community, just as in the book of Acts.

Jesus calls us to go - to reach, teach, and nurture the lost, the broken-hearted, the sick, and the dying.
It is there that the lost is found.

SMALL BEGINNINGS

74 years ago a mother a woman with a vision.
Mother Mendes started a passionate work in her home, the ministry quickly out grew the space, then she moved here 700 Lexington Ave. 
Through many trials throughout the span of time, the church survived on the word and promises of God.


Through the foundation of prayers, consecration, and a people determined to serve God, serve people and serve the community. 


We are here today only by God's grace, through tough times.
After periods of time 20 year increments different pastors led the congregation: Pastor Mendes husband, her Son, Pastor Blacknall and his wife Verona continued leading until he passed

After years of praying and waiting, God heard the cry for a leader for His church. Then He sent Pastors Shirley and Barrington Walker.


Lexington Ave Church of God continues to be a place where you can call home. The church maintains a friendly atmosphere where messages of Hope reigns and is experienced in the lives of the believers.
